Privacy Policy
1. Who is responsible

2. The short version
- Serious Nutrition stores everything you enter – meals, foods, water, weight, targets – only on your device.
- There is no account, no login and no server of ours that receives your data.
- We use no analytics or advertising trackers.
- When you buy Serious Nutrition Pro, the service RevenueCat verifies the purchase using a random, anonymous identifier. Nobody on our side receives your name, email address or payment details.
- The app exchanges data with Apple Health only if you turn the connection on; it stays on your device.
- About 290,000 products are included in the app and are found without internet. Only when a scanned barcode is not among them, or when you search online, is the barcode or search term sent to Open Food Facts, an independent, non-profit food database.
3. Data stored on your device
The app keeps the following data in its local storage (IndexedDB in the browser, or the app container on iOS/Android):
- food entries (food, amount, nutrition values, date, meal), your food database, templates and favorites;
- water entries, weight entries, targets/phases, training days, language and other settings;
- an optional local error log (technical error messages, no personal content) to help diagnose problems;
- body data for the needs calculator (age, sex, height, weight, everyday activity, training days) – in the onboarding or under “More” – are used only to calculate a suggestion and are not stored, except the weight entry from the onboarding.
This data never leaves your device unless you export a backup yourself (see 6) or your device’s own backup system (iCloud, Google) copies app data as part of a device backup, which is governed by Apple’s or Google’s privacy policies.

No other data is transmitted. The app works offline except for the lookups above.
Apple Health
If you turn on the connection under “More → Apple Health” (Pro), the app writes your daily calories, macros, water and weight to Apple Health and reads weight, active energy and steps. This data stays on your device, is only shown in the app and never changes your targets. It is not sent to us or to third parties and is not used for advertising. You can manage access at any time in the Health app under “Sharing → Apps”.
5. Camera
The camera is used only while you scan a barcode. No photos or video are stored or transmitted; only the decoded barcode number is used.
6. Backups you create
You can export all your data as a JSON file and store it wherever you choose (Files, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, e‑mail). Where you send that file is your decision and outside our control. The native app additionally writes a daily backup file into its own documents folder on your device.
7. Health-related data
Nutrition and weight entries are health-related personal data. Because they are processed only on your device, no one but you has access to them. The app does not provide medical advice; see the Terms of Use.
8. Children
The app is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children – and, as described above, we ourselves do not receive personal data.
9. Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, delete and export your data. Because all data is stored on your device, you exercise these rights directly in the app: view and edit everything in the diary and under “More”, export under “More → Backup”, and delete everything by removing the app or clearing the browser’s site data. 10. Changes
We may update this policy when the app changes (for example if optional cloud sync is added). The current version is always available at this address and inside the app under “More”.
